Lighthouse Relief is an award-winning non-profit organization dedicated to filling critical gaps in humanitarian protection for individuals seeking refuge. With a vision of creating a society that offers safe harbor, upholds universal human rights, and fosters equal opportunities, Lighthouse Relief delivers impactful sports programs for girls, boys, and young adults residing in refugee camps in Greece.

Operating from its primary location in Athens, GR, Lighthouse Relief focuses on promoting the physical and mental health and wellbeing of children seeking asylum. These children, who have often escaped war and persecution, find a safe space through sports sessions conducted outside the camps. Employing coaches trained in a trauma-informed approach, Lighthouse Relief equips children with the resilience needed to face violence, maintain confidence, and nurture their self-worth.

Based on a framework of empowerment through sport, Lighthouse Relief’s programs teach emotional regulation, teamwork, and sportsmanship. By actively involving children in the design and implementation of sessions, Lighthouse Relief promotes agency and empowerment.
