As a nonprofit organization, Wise Ancestors is committed to fostering unprecedented collaboration between genomic scientists and Indigenous Peoples & Local Communities (IPLCs) to address critical biodiversity conservation challenges.

Wise Ancestors aims to combat the extinction crisis by integrating biotechnology, Indigenous Science, and Traditional Ecological Knowledge. The organization co-creates and develops species-specific research projects, known as “Conservation Challenges,” in partnership with IPLCs. These projects focus on producing genomic information, strengthening IPLC conservation efforts, and supporting Indigenous data sovereignty. Wise Ancestors’ primary address is in Santa Cruz, US.

Wise Ancestors is actively contributing to global efforts aimed at significantly slowing biodiversity loss while uplifting IPLC leadership.
