Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA)

The Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA) is dedicated to advancing agricultural research and development throughout the SADC region. As a Sub-regional Organisation (SRO) established by SADC Member States and a subsidiary of the SADC secretariat, CCARDESA plays a pivotal role in coordinating efforts to sustainably reduce food insecurity and poverty, aligning with the SADC’s Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP) and the African Union’s Comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP). CCARDESA operates within the framework of CAADP Pillar 4, focusing on enhancing the livelihoods of African farmers and pastoralists through increased smallholder productivity and competitiveness.

Strategically located at Plot 4701, Station Exit Road, Ground Floor, Gaborone, Gaborone Private Bag 00357, BW, CCARDESA is committed to the Framework for African Agricultural Productivity (FAAP). The organization’s goal is to boost agricultural output and ensure that the region's agricultural sector is both productive and competitive on a global scale. CCARDESA aims to foster innovation, collaboration, and the adoption of best practices in agricultural research and development.
