NetOne Cellular Private Limited stands as a pioneering force in Zimbabwe's telecommunications sector. Launched in Harare during the World Solar Summit in September 1996, NetOne Cellular Private Limited was the first cellular network operator in Zimbabwe based on Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM). Starting with 500 lines, the company has since grown to serve an aggregate customer base of 4 million connected subscribers, capturing a substantial market share. As a private company wholly owned by the government, NetOne Cellular Private Limited was established as a subsidiary of the Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (PTC) in 1996.
