NanostemITN is at the forefront of innovative research, dedicated to advancing brain drug delivery through the development of novel nanoparticles. This pioneering Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN) operates under the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme and commenced in June 2018, with a commitment to last four years. Coordinated by Professor Marina Resmini at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), NanostemITN brings together a robust network of academic and industrial partners spanning seven countries: the United Kingdom, Sweden, Portugal, France, Germany, Austria, and Italy.

NanostemITN's holistic approach focuses on the meticulous design and application of nanoparticles, targeting neurogenic niches to enhance drug efficacy and minimize side effects. The collaborative expertise within the network encompasses chemistry, polymer science, nanotechnology, neuroscience, stem cell biology, and clinical neurology, fostering a truly multidisciplinary training environment. This allows for the advanced formulation of nanoparticles, exploration of new therapeutic agents, and rigorous screening processes using human blood-brain barrier models and in vivo testing within neural stem cells.

The network’s core mission is to cultivate a new generation of nanomedicine experts, equipping fourteen Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) with the skills and knowledge to excel across disciplines.
