Materials science that enables a sustainable world
WISE – Wallenberg Initiative Material Science for Sustainability is dedicated to advancing materials science research to create a sustainable world. Through understanding, creating, and controlling complex materials at the atomic level, WISE aims to empower sustainable technologies that positively impact society. This initiative focuses on basic and need-driven materials science, positioning itself at the international forefront. WISE is committed to training future leaders in society, industry, and academia in Sweden.
WISE promotes the transition to a sustainable society by exploring and researching advanced functional materials. The initiative targets key thematic areas such as clean energy conversion, storage, and distribution; circular materials that replace rare, energy-demanding, and hazardous substances; mitigation, cleaning, and protection of the atmosphere, soil, and water; and the discovery of materials for novel sustainable technologies and applications. WISE operates primarily from six of Sweden’s leading research universities, forming a comprehensive knowledge base to execute research and education effectively.
Funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, WISE – Wallenberg Initiative Material Science for Sustainability represents a significant effort across Chalmers University of Technology, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Linköping University, Lund University, Stockholm University, and Uppsala University. We invite the management of WISE – Wallenberg Initiative Material Science for Sustainability to create a customized and exclusive company showcase and product listing on our platform to further enhance its visibility and impact.
