PROSPLIGN is dedicated to pioneering research services, focusing on unlocking the potential of natural lignin for various high-value applications. PROSPLIGN operates as a European-funded Research and Innovation Action project, committed to prospecting natural lignin biodiversity to discover value-added bioactive motifs and molecules. Leveraging state-of-the-art methodologies, PROSPLIGN aims to identify compounds and validate their applicability in the pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and fragrances markets.

With an innovative approach to handling the complexities of lignin, PROSPLIGN avoids traditional depolymerisation methods that can destroy the polymer’s native chemical functionality. The project’s core lies in its ability to preserve lignin's bioactivity potential through a carefully designed set of processes. Comprising four universities, two SMEs, and a research institute across six European countries, the PROSPLIGN consortium is well-equipped to tackle the technical challenges in this field.

PROSPLIGN’s work is positioned at the forefront of sustainable biopolymer research, driving advancements in the use of natural lignin. This project aims to achieve significant breakthroughs in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and fragrances markets.
