NESCent (National Evolutionary Synthesis Center) is a leading research institution dedicated to advancing the field of evolutionary biology. Through collaborative efforts with Duke University, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University, and with the support of the National Science Foundation, NESCent fosters innovative research and synthesis to address fundamental questions. NESCent's mission is to facilitate broadly synthetic research to address fundamental questions in evolutionary biology.

NESCent achieves this by providing a dynamic environment that encourages interaction and collaboration among scientists. The Science and Synthesis program supports postdoctoral fellows and sabbatical scholars, offering opportunities for intensive collaboration on fundamental questions over extended periods. The Informatics program offers state-of-the-art tools, leading the way in assembling novel databases and developing new analytical tools for evolutionary biology.
