Centre for Advanced Technologies in Online Safety (CATOS)

The Centre for Advanced Technologies in Online Safety (CATOS) is dedicated to driving research initiatives aimed at creating a safer online environment, focusing on leveraging AI for public good. Located at 1 Fusionopolis Way #16-16 Connexis (North Tower) Singapore 138632, Singapore, SG, CATOS operates as a pivotal hub for the Online Trust and Safety (OTS) Research Programme. This program is funded by the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) and is an integral part of the Smart Nation and Digital Economy (SNDE) domain within the Research, Innovation and Enterprise 2025 programme (RIE2025), administered by the National Research Foundation (NRF).

CATOS is designed to develop advanced technological capabilities to effectively combat online harms, aligning research efforts with impactful use cases. Supported by the MCI, NRF, and various partner organizations, the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) established CATOS to spearhead the OTS Research Programme. CATOS includes functions responsible for key strategic pillars for the OTS Research Programme, including Deep Tech Research and System Engineering.
