APC Microbiome Ireland stands at the forefront of microbiome research, an area of biology experiencing rapid advancements with significant implications for human and veterinary medicine, as well as societal economic well-being. For two decades, APC Microbiome Ireland has been dedicated to mobilizing the microbiome, fostering a trans-disciplinary environment that connects Irish science with industry and society through pioneering research, education, and outreach. Operating from its primary address at the Biosciences Building, University College Cork, Cork, IE, and with additional facilities at Teagasc Moorepark, Fermoy, Cork, IE, APC Microbiome Ireland boasts a team of over 300 researchers and clinicians. This team collaborates with more than 25 national and international industry partners across the food, agriculture, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and diagnostic sectors. APC’s research is focused on extracting valuable products from microbiota, including probiotic strains, metabolites, phage, prebiotics, and anti-microbials, all aimed at promoting health and preventing disease across diverse populations.
