Since its establishment in 1998, MoveOn has pioneered online organizing and advocacy methodologies that have become standard practice across various sectors, including politics, nonprofits, and industry, both domestically and internationally.

MoveOn combines rapid-response political campaigning with in-depth strategic analysis, advanced data science, and a member-centric culture that values grassroots input and participation. This approach enables MoveOn to swiftly identify opportunities for progressive change and mobilize millions of members to act. MoveOn empowers its members to take the lead through the MoveOn Petitions DIY platform, facilitating the creation of impactful petitions and campaigns that drive social change. MoveOn comprises two key entities: MoveOn.org Civic Action, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit focused on education and advocacy, providing civic engagement tools, and nurturing grassroots leadership; and MoveOn.org Political Action, a federal PAC dedicated to running powerful progressive advocacy campaigns and electing candidates who align with MoveOn members’ values.
