Howden Foundation

The Howden Foundation is dedicated to supporting and empowering communities in building long-term resilience against the impacts of climate change. As the independent corporate foundation of the global insurance group Howden, The Howden Foundation extends the charitable endeavors of the business and its people, focusing on strategic philanthropy.

The Howden Foundation partners with communities living on the frontlines of the climate crisis to facilitate preparation for, adaptation to, and recovery from the increasingly devastating impacts of extreme weather events like heat and drought. Through collaborative efforts with local organizations, the foundation provides vital funding, support, and technical advice where it is most needed. To date, The Howden Foundation has committed over £4 million in climate funding, supporting 12 climate-focused grant partners across more than 15 countries.

In addition to its climate initiatives, The Howden Foundation supports causes and communities nominated by Howden employees through the People First Fund. Since its launch in 2014, this fund has supported over 700 charities worldwide, including match funding (over £1m distributed since 2021) and the annual Howden Foundation Charity Awards.
