Phycal is dedicated to the development of an integrated system for producing renewable biofuels and related co-products derived from algae. These biofuels encompass a range of sustainable alternatives, including renewable "green" drop-in jet fuel and diesel, straight vegetable oil, and fuel oil blends suitable for industrial boilers, among others. The potential co-products include proteins, methane, hydrogen, and nutritional products for both animal and human consumption.

Phycal adopts a strategic approach that combines innovative technology and advanced system engineering, with a strong business focus on achieving market-competitive prices for its biofuels. Currently, the company is actively engaged in research and development activities at its subpilot facility in Ohio and its algae research laboratory in St. Louis. Phycal is also planning the construction of a pilot facility in Hawaii, with operations scheduled to commence in 2011. The successful demonstration and rigorous testing of components, system performance, and product qualification at the pilot facility will pave the way for the deployment of demonstration, pre-commercial, and commercial-scale farms.
