Zambia open Community Schools

Zambia Open Community Schools (ZOCS) is dedicated to brightening the prospects of community school learners by empowering community schools across Zambia. Located at Primary: 20, Tito Road, Rhodes Park, Lusaka-Zambia, ZOCS collaborates with civil society organizations to advocate for the rights of children to education, with a particular focus on the girl child and those with disabilities.

Advocacy is a major vehicle for achieving sustainable community schools, and ZOCS actively networks with like-minded institutions, including government ministries, to further its mission. Through its community school memberships and affiliations, Zambia Open Community Schools concentrates its efforts on issues that are most crucial to orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC). ZOCS provides essential revolving funds to community schools, assisting them in ensuring financial sustainability through effective income-generating ventures, enterprise development, and project implementation.

Working closely with community schools, Zambia Open Community Schools facilitates community project planning and implementation to support these vital institutions. ZOCS conducts training for PSCS and teachers and provides technical support to community school management, particularly in resource mobilization. By building capacity within community school management and facilitating community mobilization, strategic planning, and institutional development, ZOCS empowers communities to provide quality education for their children.
