Waves for Change

Waves for Change is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to providing mental health and social services to children and adolescents in under-resourced communities. With a focus on preventative mental wellbeing, Waves for Change utilizes the innovative Take 5 Model and surf therapy to build resilience, confidence, and emotional wellbeing in youth. The organization is committed to empowering young individuals to manage toxic stress and develop crucial life skills through weekly surf sessions.

Operating from its primary address on Main Road in Muizenberg, Cape Town, Western Cape, ZA, Waves for Change trains local community members to deliver surf therapy services to at-risk youth. Each session includes safe transportation, necessary surf equipment, psycho-social support from trained coaches, and nourishing meals. Over one year, children participate in activities that teach emotional regulation, build social connections, and create a safe space for healing and growth.
