The Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing & Energy Council (TMEC) is a leading membership-based organization dedicated to representing the mining exploration, extraction, and processing businesses, energy sectors, advanced manufacturers, and associated supply chains within Tasmania. The Council actively engages with governmental bodies, having made significant submissions and appearances before Federal Senate Enquiries and Productivity Commission Reviews on topics of vital importance to its members, including the State’s Energy Strategy, Federal Renewable Energy Target, the Freight Equalisation Scheme, and regional development plans.

Originally incorporated in 1985 as the Tasmanian Chamber of Mines, the organization has evolved into the Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing & Energy Council, now encompassing the Tasmanian manufacturing sector. With over 100 members, TMEC represents the state’s most significant industrial businesses and associated suppliers, delivering products and services for the modern world.
