Training our police in the gentle art.
The Gentle Way is dedicated to enhancing law enforcement capabilities through specialized training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. As a non-profit organization, The Gentle Way focuses on equipping police officers across the United States with Gracie Survival Tactics (GST) Level I, a rigorous five-day course. This training provides officers with the knowledge and skills of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, incorporating best practices from across the nation, and access to the Gracie University network.
Upon certification in GST, officers are expected to return to their units and serve as defensive tactics instructors, sharing innovative and life-saving techniques with their colleagues. The Gentle Way aims to integrate jiu-jitsu into regular police training, ensuring officers have a baseline of muscle memory and capability for de-escalating and controlling dangerous situations. This proactive approach supports law enforcement in preventing harm and avoiding tragedy in communities.
Beyond internal training, The Gentle Way encourages officers to use jiu-jitsu as a tool for community outreach. Recognizing the efficacy of jiu-jitsu in building mutual trust and respect, instructors are encouraged to teach young people, fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and the community. The Gentle Way is committed to maximizing opportunities for law enforcement to connect with and protect the communities they serve.
