Sudanese Red Crescent Society

The Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) stands as the largest, most decentralized, and widespread humanitarian organization operating within Sudan. Evolving from the Sudan branch of the British Red Cross Society, it was formally established in 1956 and recognized as an independent National Society following Sudan's independence. The Sudanese Red Crescent Society boasts an extensive nationwide network, comprising 15 state branches and numerous sub-branches, supported by 35,000 active volunteers and a deployable reserve of 300,000 individuals.

The SRCS maintains robust working relationships with public authorities at all levels and fosters strong partnerships with Movement partners, UN specialized agencies, and both national and international NGOs active in Sudan. The Sudanese Red Crescent Society law, enacted in June 2010, provides a strong legal foundation and a clear mandate for the organization's crucial work in First Aid, emergency response, health interventions, and various other humanitarian operations.
