Established as the first and longest-running legal defense and education fund, Legal Momentum champions equality through impactful programming, education, policy initiatives, advocacy, and strategic litigation.

Located at 32 Broadway, Suite 1801, New York, NY 10004, US, Legal Momentum has a rich history of litigating groundbreaking cases and advocating for laws that address critical issues such as sex discrimination, sexual harassment, and gender-based violence. The organization actively protects and advocates for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, harassment, and discrimination. With a pivotal role in drafting and advocating for the passage of the 1994 Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Legal Momentum continues to be involved in its re-authorizations and expansions.

Legal Momentum is also dedicated to advancing economic security, fair wages, quality jobs, equal access to education, and equal protections, striving to achieve economic equality and security for all women. Notably, Legal Momentum played a key role in drafting and enacting transformative pay transparency laws in New York, requiring employers to disclose pay ranges in job postings, inspiring similar initiatives across numerous states.
