International Working Group of Indigenous Peoples in Isolation and Initial Contact
GTI PIACI is an international working group dedicated to the protection, defense, and promotion of the rights of Indigenous Peoples in Isolation and Initial Contact (PIACI) in the Amazon and the Gran Chaco. Formed by indigenous organizations, non-governmental organizations, and committed citizens, GTI PIACI strives to make visible the vulnerabilities faced by these communities and to undertake effective actions at local, national, regional, and international levels.
GTI PIACI emerged from a collaborative effort that produced the First Regional Report "Indigenous Peoples in Isolation in the Amazon and Gran Chaco. Regional Report: Territories and Development" in 2019. Following the report's presentation, 21 organizations from across the Amazon and the Gran Chaco formalized the GTI PIACI through the Lima Declaration. The organization actively promotes the exchange of experiences, mutual learning, and articulated work to advance the cause of defending the rights of PIACI.
GTI PIACI aims to create and strengthen strategies and actions for the protection of Indigenous Peoples in Isolation and Initial Contact at all levels. The organization is committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of these vulnerable communities. We invite the manager of GTI PIACI to create a customized and exclusive company showcase and product listing on our platform to further amplify their important work.
