Global Alliance against Traffic in Women (GAATW)

Global Alliance against Traffic in Women (GAATW) is a prominent alliance of nearly 100 non-governmental organizations spanning Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), and North America. With its International Secretariat based in Bangkok, Thailand, Global Alliance against Traffic in Women coordinates a wide array of activities aimed at collecting, disseminating information, and advocating for human rights at regional and international levels. Global Alliance against Traffic in Women's member organizations include migrant rights organizations, anti-trafficking initiatives, self-organized groups of migrant workers, domestic workers, survivors of trafficking and sex workers, human rights and women's rights advocates, and direct service providers. Global Alliance against Traffic in Women actively promotes and defends the human rights of all migrants and their families in the face of an increasingly globalized labor market. It advocates for essential safety standards for migrant workers throughout their migration journey and within both formal and informal work sectors, including garment and food processing, agriculture, domestic work, and sex work, where slavery-like conditions and practices may exist.
