End Ecocide Sweden

End Ecocide Sweden is dedicated to advocating for ecocide legislation, championing a law that protects the Earth and fosters a world where humanity lives in harmony with nature. With roots tracing back to the 1972 Stockholm Conference, End Ecocide Sweden aspires to see Sweden take on an international leadership role in promoting a sustainable future by proposing ecocide as an international crime. A key focus is raising awareness within Swedish businesses and academia, collaborating with Stop Ecocide, founded by Polly Higgins, and participating in the global network End Ecocide on Earth.

End Ecocide Sweden is committed to urging the Swedish government to introduce an amendment to the Rome Statute, adding ecocide as a crime, either by raising the issue or by supporting other states that do so. ECOCIDE is defined as extensive damage to, destruction of, or loss of ecosystems within a defined geographical area, whether through human action or other causes, to such an extent that the inhabitants' opportunities for peaceful enjoyment of the area are severely restricted.
