Advancing science-based policy
The Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative (DOSI) is dedicated to advancing science-based policy and promoting ecosystem-based management of resource use in the deep ocean. DOSI's mission is to develop and implement strategies that maintain the integrity of deep-ocean ecosystems, both within and beyond national jurisdiction. Operating since 2013, the Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative actively contributes to marine conservation through collaborative, cross-border initiatives.
Through the efforts of ten transdisciplinary working groups, the Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative addresses specific topics critical to safeguarding the marine environment for current and future generations. These groups focus on key areas such as climate change, fisheries, deep-sea mining, marine genetic resources, and pollution, ensuring a comprehensive approach to ocean management. The Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative is committed to fostering international cooperation and knowledge sharing to protect the deep ocean's biodiversity and ecological functions.
DOSI's work includes advising on the UN Decade of Ocean Science and engaging in crucial discussions related to BBNJ (Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction). The Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative strives to bridge the gap between scientific research and effective policy implementation, ensuring a sustainable future for our oceans. We invite the manager of the Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative to create a customized and exclusive company showcase and product listing on our platform, further amplifying your impact and reach.
