Sakshi is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to advancing gender equality, diversity, and inclusion through rights-based systemic interventions in South Asia. Founded in 1992, Sakshi has been at the forefront of advocating for responsible sexuality and gender equality in India. Sakshi played a pivotal role in landmark Public Interest Litigations such as ‘Vishaka & Others Vs. State of Rajasthan’ and ‘Sakshi Vs. Union of India,’ which have significantly shaped gender-based laws, including the POSH Act (Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace, Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal Act 2013) and the POCSO Act (Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Amendment Act 2019).

Sakshi's commitment extends to addressing biases in judicial interpretation. The organization spearheaded the Asia Pacific Advisory Forum for Judicial Education on Gender Equality, a 10-year program recognized by UNIFEM (UN Women) as a ‘Best Practice’ model. Through initiatives like The Rakshin Project & SBOX, Sakshi enhances access to justice by informing and educating citizens about law reforms and their rights.
