American Independence Museum

The American Independence Museum is dedicated to promoting awareness, increasing understanding, and celebrating the freedoms of American Independence. Founded in 1991 with the support of the Society of the Cincinnati in the State of New Hampshire, the Exeter Community, and the State of New Hampshire, the American Independence Museum aims to recognize the many facets of the founding of the Nation and to encourage and inspire civic engagement today.

The American Independence Museum includes the historic Ladd-Gilman House (ca. 1721) and Folsom Tavern (ca. 1775), providing visitors with a rich and immersive experience into the past. Located in Exeter, New Hampshire’s Revolutionary War Capital, the American Independence Museum serves residents, schoolchildren, and area visitors by making history relevant and engaging. The museum is located at One Governors Lane, Exeter, NH 03833, US.

Open seasonally from May to November, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm, the American Independence Museum strives to encourage appreciation for those who fought for freedom and to foster interest and investment in politics and government.
