Latrobe Magnesium is pioneering sustainable magnesium production through its innovative plant in Victoria’s Latrobe Valley. Utilizing a world-first process of combined hydromet/thermal reduction, Latrobe Magnesium extracts valuable magnesium metal from fly ash, a resource previously considered waste from brown coal power generation.

With a commitment to smart, efficient, and green practices, Latrobe Magnesium is executing a strategic three-stage project. This includes the 1,000 TPA Demonstration Plant in Hazelwood North, followed by a 10,000 TPA Australian Commercial Plant in the Latrobe Valley. The ultimate goal is a 100,000 TPA International Mega-Plant in Sarawak State, Malaysia, utilizing ferro-nickel slag.
