Cook Colliery is a leading mining operation situated approximately 27 kilometers south of Blackwater, in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. Acquired by QCoal in 2020, Cook Colliery has a rich history, leveraging both longwall and bord pillar mining methods since the 1970s. The company is dedicated to transitioning to place change mining methods, ensuring efficient and sustainable operations.

Cook Colliery produces high-quality coking coal, characterized by high fluidity, medium volatile, and low sulfur content. In addition, the operation yields a high-quality thermal coal by-product. The Cook Colliery Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP) includes surface conveyors, a ROM coal stockpile, a private haul road, and a train loader. The coal from Cook Colliery is transported to Gladstone Port for export, contributing to the global supply chain.
