SEACOP VI is dedicated to strengthening maritime security and combating illicit trade across Latin America, the Caribbean, and West Africa. Through comprehensive strategies and collaborative efforts, SEACOP VI supports the establishment and enhancement of Joint Maritime Control Units (JMCU) and Maritime Intelligence Units (MIU) within the SEACOP network. This proactive approach aims to mitigate the negative impacts of maritime illicit trade on security, public health, and socio-economic development. Located primarily in Paris, FR, SEACOP VI focuses on maritime intelligence, control, and addressing threats stemming from transatlantic illicit trafficking routes.
Operating as an EU-funded initiative, SEACOP VI fosters cooperation and information sharing at national, regional, and transregional levels, aligning with key entities such as EUROPOL and FRONTEX. SEACOP VI's activities include specialized staff training, robust capacity building, thorough threat assessments, and the promotion of seamless information exchange. By leveraging the expertise of implementing partners like Policia Judiciaria, General Directorate of Customs and Indirect Rights -DGDDI, and Maritime Analysis and Operation Centre - Narcotics (MAOC-N), SEACOP VI ensures a coordinated and effective response to transnational organized crime.
