Long COVID Project

Long COVID Project is at the forefront of hospitals and healthcare, dedicated to understanding the long-term effects of COVID-19 infections. With a robust 48-month Horizon Europe project, Long COVID Project aims to unravel the intricate mechanisms of host-virus response that contribute to persistent symptoms following COVID-19. Addressing the growing global concern of Long Covid Syndrome (LCS), where a significant number of patients experience long-term effects, Long COVID Project is committed to identifying and understanding these underlying mechanisms to facilitate the development of adequate treatments.

Coordinated by HUS Helsinki University Hospital in Finland, and collaborating with 12 partners across 6 countries including Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Estonia, and Switzerland, Long COVID Project is undertaking comprehensive studies to combat LCS. The project employs geographically diverse cohort and registry studies, advanced mechanistic research, and novel high-throughput methods for biomarker analysis. These efforts are further enhanced by interventional and follow-up studies on LCS patients, ensuring a holistic approach to understanding and treating this condition.
