Health and Aging from Multicultural Perspectives Lab (HAMPLAB) is a leading research institution dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for aging Black communities through collaborative research, education, and services. Located at 760 Press Ave, Suite 460, Lexington, Kentucky 40508, US, HAMPLAB leverages the health justice framework and decolonial perspective in sciences to examine health and aging outcomes in Black Americans, African immigrants in the US, and West Africans.
The research conducted by Health and Aging from Multicultural Perspectives Lab focuses on critical areas such as brain health, cognitive functioning, early cancer detection, and survivorship. HAMPLAB studies early onset and risks of cognitive decline, progression, and conversion to Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia (ADRD), as well as psychosocial factors that predict fatal-stage cancer diagnosis and cancer preventive health behaviors. Additional research lines focus on other health outcomes and caregiving, including pain, HIV, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and diabetes.
