By focusing on the semi-formal bus system of Khartoum, KhartouMap is generating comprehensive public maps and data essential for research and GTFS-compliant feeds. This initiative addresses the critical need for information about Khartoum’s extensive public transit system, which serves a significant portion of the city’s residents. KhartouMap is committed to improving the accessibility and understanding of public transit in Khartoum through meticulous data collection and processing.

Located in Khartoum, SD, KhartouMap is actively engaged in creating digital and physical system maps while collaborating with local government and transport authorities to develop the country's first GTFS. A key component of KhartouMap is conducting extensive mobility surveys to gather detailed insights into travel behavior, origins, destinations, and transit accessibility along the mapped routes. By making all route mapping and mobility survey data publicly available, KhartouMap aims to foster local capacity building and stimulate innovation in transit-tech solutions through a series of events and hackathons.
