The GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) is a regional organization established by the decision of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in its 22nd session (Muscat, December 30-31, 2001). GSO commenced its operations in May 2004, and it is headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at Olaya St.

Comprising the GCC member states, the GCC Standardization Organization aims to unify various standardization activities, monitor their implementation and compliance, in cooperation and coordination with the national standardization bodies of the member states. This effort is geared towards enhancing the efficiency and competitiveness of Gulf industries and developing their productive and service sectors. The goal is to facilitate trade exchange, protect consumers, the environment, and public health, support the Gulf economy, and meet the requirements of the Customs Union and the Gulf Common Market.
