Located at 301 Evans Bay Parade, Hataitai, Wellington Region 6021, NZ, Sustainable Seas National Science Challenge focuses on improving marine resource decision-making and transforming New Zealand’s ability to enhance its marine economy into a blue economy.
Sustainable Seas National Science Challenge employs interdisciplinary research, including biophysical science, economics, mātauranga Māori, social science, and policy, to address the critical question of how to best develop the marine economy while protecting the taonga of the marine environment. Since 2014, Sustainable Seas National Science Challenge has been committed to taking a strategic approach to science investment, funded by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
