By awarding grants to research activities based on researchers’ own concepts, Independent Research Fund Denmark aims to elevate the quality and internationalization of Danish research.

Independent Research Fund Denmark supports researcher-initiated ideas and projects through free national competition. With scientific quality as the paramount assessment criterion, the Fund distributed over DKK 1453 million to approximately 435 pioneering research projects in 2021. Independent Research Fund Denmark continually works to establish optimal conditions for independent research in Denmark and to encourage international research collaborations.
