Capitol Area Development Authority (CADA)

The Capitol Area Development Authority (CADA) is dedicated to cultivating community through its strategic initiatives in government administration. Established as a joint powers authority between the State of California and the City of Sacramento, CADA is instrumental in implementing the State Capitol Area Plan, focusing on the management, development, and strategic disposition of state-owned properties adjacent to the State Capitol and Capitol Park. Since its inception in 1978, the Capitol Area Development Authority has played a pivotal role in maintaining affordable housing, with a mandate to keep 25% of its units accessible to low-income households. CADA operates with the powers of a redevelopment agency within the Capitol Area Redevelopment Project Area, expanding its influence in 2002 to include a significant portion of the R Street Corridor. This expansion aims to revitalize the area, address urban blight, and stimulate transit-oriented development near key light rail stations, enhancing the Capitol Park Neighborhood.
