KliK Foundation

The KliK Foundation is dedicated to driving sustainable climate action through financial support for innovative solutions and technologies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Established in 2012, the KliK Foundation operates in accordance with the Swiss CO₂ Act and Ordinance, serving the public interest by actively contributing to climate protection via demonstrably effective mitigation activities. The Foundation's work significantly reduces emissions, both nationally and internationally. The KliK Foundation anticipates achieving emission reductions of 40 million tonnes of CO₂ this decade, representing approximately 10% of Switzerland’s total emissions, with at least half of these reductions occurring within Switzerland. Since 2022, the KliK Foundation has expanded its reach to international greenhouse gas mitigation activities, partnering with countries that have bilateral climate agreements with Switzerland under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement. These financial contributions facilitate activities that not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also promote social, ecological, and health benefits in partner countries. The KliK Foundation acquires emission reduction certificates through the promotion of climate-friendly technologies and innovations both in Switzerland (Swiss attestations, CHA) and abroad (Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes, ITMOs), which are then delivered to Switzerland to help achieve its climate targets (Nationally Determined Contribution, NDC).
