The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) is dedicated to safeguarding the environment and natural resources of the Pacific region, ensuring a resilient Pacific environment that sustains livelihoods and natural heritage in harmony with its cultures. SPREP operates as the regional organization established by the Governments and Administrations of the Pacific, playing a pivotal role in environmental protection and management.
With its headquarters in Vailima, WS, SPREP also maintains a presence with offices in Suva, FJ; Majuro, MH; and Port Vila, VU, enabling it to effectively serve the diverse needs of the Pacific region. With a dedicated team of approximately 150 staff members recruited from across the Pacific region and the globe, SPREP boasts a wealth of expertise and experience. Supported by an annual budget of approximately USD 49 million in 2025, SPREP is well-equipped to address the environmental challenges facing the Pacific.
SPREP specializes in environmental governance, climate change resilience, climate science and information, biodiversity conservation, and waste management and pollution prevention.
