GOVAQUA project

The GOVAQUA project is dedicated to pioneering governance innovations that facilitate a transition to sustainable and equitable water use across Europe. Recognizing the urgent need to balance diverse water uses with critical environmental requirements, GOVAQUA is at the forefront of developing and validating innovative governance instruments and approaches.

Through an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary methodology, GOVAQUA systematically analyzes and compares existing water governance systems throughout Europe. This comprehensive approach encompasses case studies and living labs, focusing on the impacts of water use in key sectors such as agriculture, industries, energy production, water utilities, and the vital role of citizens. GOVAQUA is committed to delivering new knowledge, participatory tools, and best-practice guidelines that pave the way for a sustainable and equitable water future.
