EFI Bioregions Facility is at the forefront of advancing a sustainable European bioeconomy through collaborative efforts and knowledge sharing. Located in Joensuu, North Karelia, at Yliopistokatu 6b, EFI Bioregions Facility unites forward-thinking regions across Europe to foster cooperation, resource sharing, and mutual learning. This initiative is designed to accelerate the transition toward a forest-based circular bioeconomy within these regions.

EFI Bioregions Facility’s members include prominent regions such as the Basque Country, North Rhine-Westphalia, Catalonia, the Austrian regions, and Castile and León, with Flanders and the Committee of the Regions - NAT Commission (COR) participating as observers. Governed by a Multi-Donor Trust Fund, EFI Bioregions Facility ensures joint funding for its activities, with member regions equally represented in the steering committee. This committee oversees the implementation of the work program, aligning it with regional priorities and ensuring its effectiveness.
