Thinking Black

Thinking Black is dedicated to fostering educational engagement and empowering young Black voices through innovative and interdisciplinary programs. Since its inception in 2017, Thinking Black has been committed to providing mentorship and resources that enable young Black individuals to critically engage with and respond to pressing societal questions. Thinking Black is located in London, GB.

Thinking Black's impactful initiatives, such as the Afro-Caribbean Tyler Essay Prize, have already facilitated critical Black thought among young people. Through teaching, mentoring, and coaching, Thinking Black has successfully exposed numerous state school students to a diverse range of Black academics, thinkers, and artists, rewarding their engagement with questions of critical relevance to their lives as young Black British people.

Thinking Black continues to develop a series of programs tailored to young Black people of different ages, from year 8 to year 12. These programs engage students in various expressive mediums, including creative writing, public speaking, critical thinking, and formal essay writing. Thinking Black equips students with a portfolio of work, along with the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to excel in academic spaces.
