Massachusetts Adult Education Professional Development System (SABES) is dedicated to advancing adult basic education throughout the Commonwealth. Funded by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE), SABES operates through a network of professional development centers, focusing on curriculum, instruction, program support, and system communication. SABES helps ABE programs and practitioners better meet the college and career readiness needs of ABE learners.

The mission of Massachusetts Adult Education Professional Development System is to provide adults with opportunities to develop literacy skills, qualify for further education and job training, secure better employment, and achieve their full potential as family members, productive workers, and citizens. The system is comprised of Math and Numeracy, English Language Arts, ESOL, and Program Support PD Centers.
