ANRAV / First CCUS Project in Eastern Europe

ANRAV is pioneering the future of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) as the first project of its kind in Eastern Europe funded by the Innovation Fund. Located in Varna, Bulgaria, ANRAV is setting a new standard for sustainable industrial practices in the region.

The ANRAV project is establishing the first full CCUS value chain in Eastern Europe. This groundbreaking initiative links CO2 capture facilities at the Devnya Cement Plant, a part of Heidelberg Materials in Bulgaria, with permanent CO2 storage in a depleted gas field in the Black Sea. The project utilizes an advanced onshore and offshore pipeline system to ensure efficient and safe CO2 transportation.

ANRAV's efforts are paving the way for an economically viable CCUS cluster in Bulgaria and neighboring countries such as Romania and Greece. By leveraging the sequestration potential of the Galata depleted offshore gas field, ANRAV is not only advancing environmental sustainability but also fostering regional economic growth.
