WABiLED

WABiLED is dedicated to promoting biodiversity conservation and climate-resilient, low-emissions development across West Africa. Funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), WABiLED operates with three core objectives: combating wildlife trafficking and enhancing great ape conservation, reducing deforestation and biodiversity loss in key transboundary forest landscapes, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions while increasing carbon sequestration from land use.

Working with partners, WABiLED is strengthening the capacity of national and regional networks and institutions to enforce wildlife trafficking laws. The organization also implements regional and transboundary cooperation and biodiversity conservation strategies in key forested countries, including Guinea, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire, and Sierra Leone. WABiLED's efforts improve the capacity for economic planning and the development of low-emissions strategies to reduce West Africa’s greenhouse gas emissions, thereby contributing to national and global climate commitments.
