Black Girl Knit Club

Black Girl Knit Club is dedicated to empowering a vibrant community of Black women through the art of craft and the acquisition of valuable hand skills. Founded in 2019, Black Girl Knit Club provides a safe and inclusive space for Black women and female creatives to connect, share stories, and inspire one another through the shared love of craft. The Club emphasizes sisterhood, togetherness, and connectivity, all aimed at empowering women and girls through creative expression.

Black Girl Knit Club operates at the intersection of craft, education, fashion, and community empowerment. With a focus on upcycled wax print cloth yarn, which reflects a love for iconic West African textiles, the collective hosts monthly workshops for members and guests. It offers a variety of resources, including a book for beginner knitters, illustrated prints, e-books, and signature upcycled West African wax print yarn.

Black Girl Knit Club’s vision is to create an encouraging space that builds confidence, develops skills, and promotes wellness. The club is focused on dissolving myths of diversity in craft, highlighting the experiences of Black women, and empowering their community.
