Managed by KGAL, an independent investment and asset manager based in Munich, the fund extends financial backing to both public and private entities engaged in the advancement of the green hydrogen value chain.

Primarily focusing on projects within developing and emerging economies where green hydrogen production can leverage optimal environmental conditions, the PtX Development Fund supports industrial ventures encompassing the production, transport, storage, utilization, and further processing of green hydrogen. The fund's core objective is to stimulate the market growth of green hydrogen by bridging the bankability gap. Simultaneously, the PtX Development Fund champions a socio-ecological economic transformation in developing and emerging economies.

Green hydrogen aligns with various strategic and economic interests for Europe, contributing to the achievement of European climate objectives and facilitating the global energy transition. With an initial endowment of €270 million from the BMZ, the PtX Development Fund forms part of KfW’s PtX Platform, dedicated to promoting hydrogen initiatives across the global South.
