Arktisk Kommando - Joint Arctic Command is a key component of the Armed Forces, dedicated to safeguarding the realm within the Arctic region. Operating under the direct command of the Chief of Defence, Arktisk Kommando serves as a territorial command with a vast area of responsibility. This area spans from the waters surrounding the Faroe Islands in the east, the Greenland Sea and Arctic Ocean to the north, across the Denmark Strait and Irminger Sea, and reaches the Davis Strait and Baffin Bay between Canada and Greenland.

Arktisk Kommando's primary missions include the military defence of Greenland and the Faroe Islands, surveillance and assertion of sovereignty, fisheries inspection, search and rescue services, environmental monitoring, pollution control, and hydrographic surveying, alongside various support tasks for civil society. The headquarters for Arktisk Kommando is located at Postboks 1072, Nuuk, 3900, GL with an additional office in Copenhagen, Capital Region of Denmark 2100, DK.
